In 2021, HEIW held a photography competition for all staff. We received over 600 amazing photographs from all over Wales – ranging from the breath-taking mountains of Snowdonia in the north, to the redeveloped, stylish and modern urban water-front of Cardiff Bay in the south.

We were delighted to see photos from all across Wales. The beautiful scenes of our Welsh mountains and beaches were showcased and a popular entry choice for many. The Coastal category received the highest number of entries whilst others opted for a more creative and contemporary shot.

There were 6 categories in total: City Life, Coastal, Contemporary, Rural, What Wales is to you? and Family. For each category a winner and a runner up was placed, as well as a winner for the best overall photograph across all categories.

This overall winning photograph was taken by Dr Amy Case, Radiotherapy Research Fellow, Swansea Bay UHB. Amy also won the Family category with her entry Into the Unknown, Hensol Forest.
